For many years, the Neue Vocalsolisten have maintained an intensive exchange with composer-performers from the Mediterranean region–not least because the voice plays a very special role in Mediterranean musical cultures. In »Mediterranean Perspectives«, voices from Lampedusa, Cairo, Beirut, Damascus, Istanbul and Palestine paint a picture of a torn region, charged with conflicts and contrasts as well as common roots and longings, which threatens to break up the world. The first program tells of religious conflicts, a particular image of men and a trance-like, yearning dream.
