This perspective is also influenced by Indian (tabla) music, which Keller studied with Aneesh Pradhan in Mumbai. And Keller’s new piece »Trance« is equally influenced by this spirit, with its often very dense, microtonal, intense and rhythmically energetic sounds.

Stefan Keller was born in Zurich in 1974 and studied, among other things, oboe at the local conservatory as well as composition, music theory and electroacoustic music at the HfM Hanns Eisler in Berlin. In 2019, he completed a doctorate in comparative musicology at the FU Berlin. Stefan Keller has been teaching at the HfM Hanns Eisler since 2006. In 2008/2009 he attended the Cursus 1 at the Ircam in Paris and stayed at the Cité des Arts on a scholarship from the Berlin Senate, followed in 2012/2013 by a one-year scholarship from the DAAD for a stay in Mumbai. In 2019/2020 he was a scholarship holder at the Villa Massimo in Rome
