touch me is about closeness and distance, about touching the instruments and about a tactile, experimental approach to electronics in which touch is written into the music as an interpretative gesture.

Johannes Burgert (*1998 in Düsseldorf) began his compositional training with Isabel Mundry at the Munich Academy of Music. As part of an Erasmus scholarship, he studied for a year at the Conservatoire de Paris with Frédéric Durieux. He is currently a student at the HMDK Stuttgart in the class of Luxa M. Schüttler.
His music has already been performed by major ensembles such as the SWR Vokalensemble, the Ensemble Recherche and the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his studies, he was able to deepen his compositional knowledge in individual lessons with numerous renowned composers such as Clara Iannotta, George Lewis, Mark Andre, Brice Pauset, Misato Mochizuki, José María Sánchez-Verdù, Pierluigi Billone and Stefano Gervasoni. In addition, he received important impulses from experienced interpreters such as the Diotima Quartet, the Composition Academy of the SWR Vokalensemble, the Delian Academy, Nils Mönkemeyer and Jean-Pierre Collot in the context of academies and masterclasses. Johannes Burgert has been a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation since May 2021. In 2022, he was also a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung’s composition residency in cooperation with the Beethovenhaus Bonn.
Johannes Burgert sees his work as a poetic interrogation of musical identities, driven by a profound interest in hybrid and ambiguous musical entities.
