Anda Kryeziu: Playtime

for Ensemble

In Infuse: Playtime, I contradict my maximalist tendencies, which are present in my other works, and focus exclusively on acoustic parameters. I obsessively search for new timbres, relying solely on the acoustic level and the chamber music format. Between self-built instruments, extended instruments, and amplification, I explore the subtleties of instrumentation, shape the sound to create very intimate soundscapes, and develop structures that explode in instrumental playfulness.

Anda Kryeziu (*1993 in Kosovo) studied piano and composition in Basel and Berlin with Dieter Ammann, Caspar Johannes Walter, and Daniel Ott, as well as electroacoustic composition at the Hanns Eisler School of Music with Wolfgang Heiniger. She won the 1st prize at the Balkan Composers Competition in 2019 and is a fellow of the Contemporary Arts Alliance Berlin and the Academy of Music Theatre Today of the Deutsche Bank Foundation.

As a composer and performer, she works at the intersection of instrumental and electroacoustic music as well as intermedial, immersive formats. Her work thrives on contradictions and convergences–her focus on sound as a compositional element is in constant dialogue with her conceptual intentions, while her research-based projects collide with her performative persona. Anda Kryeziu’s interest lies in weaving together different elements–sound, light, space, and narration–into coherent and immersive works that also address socially relevant themes through music and sound-based formats.
