Nina Perović und Helena Skljarov: Facing
Videokomposition
The composition Facing emerged over a period of intense exchanges of ideas and encounters between Nina Perović (Montenegro) and Helena Skljarov (Croatia). The dialogues they have shared—as colleagues, friends, and individuals who perceive the past through different lenses—were subjected to renewed questioning: even silence can say much, but some things must still be spoken aloud.
The process of creating the composition deepened their sense of closeness and friendship, while simultaneously revealing how that bond—and their explorations of wartime legacy—can be both radiant and fragile. In this encounter, a web of memory, guilt, and release is reshaped, where silence becomes an argument, and the argument a tender meeting of two women whose dialogue dissolves the boundaries between friendship and politics.
