Yalda Zamani grew up in Tehran. After receiving early training in composition, she was awarded a scholarship in 2009 to study composition at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. However, her work as an assistant with the Austro-Iranian Symphony Orchestra (AISO) in Tehran fueled her passion for conducting, and in 2011 she decided to pursue a degree in conducting at the MUK Vienna under Georg Mark and Andreas Stöhr, which she completed with honors. Following her debut with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra at the ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna, she received a scholarship from the International Ensemble Modern Academy and completed her master’s degree at the HfMDK in Frankfurt am Main. She is a recipient of the 2015 Start Scholarship for Music and the Performing Arts and is supported by the Ulysses Network/Ircam artistic committee in France. Zamani has collaborated with numerous conductors and composers, including Helmut Lachenmann, Susanna Mälkki, Peter Eötvös, Beat Furrer, Stefano Gervasoni, Enno Poppe, and HK Gruber, and has conducted at a wide variety of European institutions as well as at international festivals such as the Darmstadt Summer Courses, Klangspuren Schwaz, the Witten Days for New Chamber Music, Time of Music (Finland), Vienna Modern, Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Utrecht), ZKM Karlsruhe, Royaumont Abbey (France), The Krzysztof Penderecki European Center for Music (Krakow), and the Vienna Musikverein.
