Marie Gamillscheg

Marie Gamillscheg (* 1992 in Graz/Austria) studied Transcultural Communication with French and Russian in Graz and Lyon/France, then Eastern European Studies at the Free University of Berlin/Germany. She now lives and works as a freelance author in Berlin.

She was nominated for the aspekte Literature Prize and the Rauriser Literature Prize, among others, for her debut novel Alles was glänzt (2018, Luchterhand Literaturverlag), which was on the ORF bestseller list for three months and received the work stipend of the Berlin Senate, the rotahorn Literature Prize and the debut prize of the Austrian Book Prize in 2018. In 2020, she adapted the novel for the stage in a collaboration with makemake productions. In 2018, she received a fellowship from the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Literatur in Paliano/Italy and a residency fellowship from the province of Styria in Lviv/Ukraine, followed by the 2020 Alfred Döblin Fellowship and a Project Fellowship for Literature from the Austrian government. She also received a residency fellowship at Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop/Germany and a literary fellowship from the city of Graz in 2021. In 2022, her second novel, Aufruhr der Meerestiere (Luchterhand Literaturverlag) was published.

She is currently a fellow of the Akademie Schloss Solitude (textual section).
