Kirsten Reese (born in Kiel in 1968) grew up in the Rhineland, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

As a composer and sound artist, she focuses on the interrelationships between hearing and physical perception, acoustic and social spaces, immersive loudspeaker and instrument constellations, and electronic media. Her artistic work and research focus on diversity and specificity (technological, ecological, social), acoustic ecology, media archaeology, and composing with archives. Kirsten Reese teaches electroacoustic composition at the Berlin University of the Arts and is a member of the Music Section of the Berlin Academy of Arts.
