Julian Belli

Julian Belli was born in Wolfach (Black Forest) and completed his undergraduate studies with Franz Lang in Trossingen. Following a study visit to Copenhagen with Gert Mortensen, he concluded his artistic training in 2012 with a postgraduate soloist course under Bernhard Wulff in Freiburg. He has received prizes and scholarships at the Jugend musiziert competition, the German Music Competition and from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation.
As a soloist, he has performed under Dennis Russell Davies and Dirk Kaftan. He is also a regular guest with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg and the opera orchestras in Basel and Stuttgart.
He has a particular passion for contemporary music in all its facets. As a sought-after chamber musician, he has performed with ensembles such as Ensemble Resonanz and the Klangforum Heidelberg. He has been a member of Ascolta since 2014, enriching the ensemble’s work with his versatility and virtuosity.
Julian Belli lives in Freiburg and teaches at the Binningen-Bottmingen Music School near Basel and at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano.
