A Peace Oratorio–A European peace oratorio for an international orchestra, soloists, choirs and amateur singers, to commemorate the end of the Second World War 80 years ago.

»The project takes its starting point in the polyphony of carefully researched stories from contemporary witnesses and testimonies from individual people who remember the end of the war and their respective «liberation” on behalf of millions of untold fates. These include prominent personalities such as Batsheva Dagan, Clara Malraux and Philomena Franz, as well as other lesser-known European perspectives, such as the records of Edgar Krása, the reports of Shoshana Stark and Dina Chen.

Ensemble Reflektor in Hamburg and the Augsburg Philharmonic join forces with 6 top-class European ensembles:
Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Spoldzielnia muzyczna contemporary ensemble (Poland), Ensemble C Barré (France), Ensemble degli Intrigati (Italy), Ensemble Metamorphosis Belgrade (Serbia)–on 8. On May 8, 2025 at the opening of the Augsburg Peace Festival and on May 10, 2025 at Kampnagel, they will form an international orchestra that will send out a radiant musical signal for a peaceful future in remembrance of the past.

The BEFREIUNG project is intended to set an example for tolerance and peaceful coexistence–following the conviction that remembrance is a continuous process that needs to be internalized anew in every generation.

BEFREIUNG will be expanded to include a choir of around 200 professional and amateur singers, who will call on people in the respective cities to raise their voices and take part in the project.”
